The White House announced tonight that the president of the United States and the first lady have both tested positive for COVID-19 after coming into contact with senior advisor Hope Hicks who tested positive earlier in the evening.
It throws an unknown variable into the presidential campaign as the president’s preferred campaigning style is dominated by large rallies. It also means that the president may be unable to attend the next presidential debate, which is supposed to occur on October 15th.
As of right now, the president is only experiencing cold like symptoms, however, Dow Futures were down over 400 points on the announcement, reflecting uncertainty from investors on what impact this could have.
