Nestlé Buys The Bountiful Company For $5.75B From PE Giant KKR

Swiss food and beverage company Nestlé has announced it will acquire The Bountiful Company for $5.75 billion from the private equity giant KKR. Bountiful is a health and vitamin supplement company whose portfolio includes Nature's Bounty, Osteo Bi-Flex, and Pure Protein (amongst others).

In a statement on the acquisition, Nestlé Health Science CEO Greg Behar said, "This acquisition complements our existing health and nutrition portfolio in terms of brands and channels. It will establish Nestlé Health Science as the industry leader in mass retail, specialty retail, e-commerce and direct-to-consumer in the US, while offering significant opportunities for geographic growth."

Bountiful is being acquired at 3.1x sales and 16.8x EBITDA. Due to the costs of integration, EBITDA is expected to briefly fall following the acquisition. However, as synergies are recognized, the EBITDA margin of the acquired portfolio is expected to rise above Nestlé’s overall portfolio.
