Apple's Taiwan based supplier, Catcher Technology, agreed to sell two units from its Lrya International division to China's Hunan-based Lens Technology Co for $1.43 billion.
The deal follows fellow Apple supplier Wistron’s sale of two factories to Chinese manufacturer Luxshare Precision Industry for $477 million last month. The deals mark a move by Chinese companies to become increasingly involved in the iPhone supply chain, which is currently dominated by Taiwanese firms including Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron.
Apple itself just went through a banner quarter that demonstrated what makes being a part of its supply chain so desirable. Resilience of demand for Apple products, even during a global economic crisis, translates to stability and reliable revenue for suppliers.
