AMC Rallies 30% In Two Days As New York Theaters Are Set To Reopen

Following AMC’s announcement that it will open all of its 13 theaters in New York City on March 5, shares have climbed considerably. This decision was made in accordance to the announcement by Governor Cuomo to allow a limited re-opening of theater venues across the state.

The largest provider of theaters in the city was hit hard by precautionary measures due to the on-going pandemic, forcing venues close. Although theaters will operate at 25% capacity, CEO Adam Aron considered the decision an “important step towards restoring the health of the movie theatre industry.”

AMC will enforce social distancing and mandatory face mask policies as well as implement new health procedures regarding air filtration and sanitation to protect potential consumers.

While the question of when theaters will reopen is becoming clear, it remains uncertain whether or not cinemas will see increased traffic or if people will continue to watch movies in the comforts of their homes.
